ControSenso is a research-driven project developed within the SAV Lab (Sinestesie Audiovisive Accessibili) at the Politecnico di Milano’s School of Design. The project explores how artworks can be made accessible to diverse audiences through multisensory communication strategies, combining visual, tactile, and audiovisual approaches.
Students selected artworks and experimented with different techniques to translate artistic content into accessible experiences, particularly through tactile artefacts and audiovisual media. The project culminated in a public exhibition presented during Accessibility Days in Milan, which also served as a testing and learning moment for the students involved.
My role was to support students throughout the development of their research and design projects, and to ensure the clarity and coherence of the project’s public communication. I contributed to the promotion and dissemination of the research through the design of a dedicated website, printed and digital explanatory brochures, interactive maps, posters, and tactile maps and materials.
The interactive map was developed as a pilot project, testing new approaches to accessible and interactive communication tools. All materials were conceived to support understanding, navigation, and engagement for diverse audiences.
The project placed strong emphasis on accessibility, visual hierarchy, and information structure. Design decisions were guided by the need to translate complex artistic and research content into formats that could be accessed through multiple sensory channels.
Working in close collaboration with academic researchers and students, I focused on creating clear editorial structures and visual systems that supported comprehension, exploration, and inclusive engagement across physical and digital environments.
